How to start a new Registered Student Organization

You can start a new Register Student Organization or "RSO" at any time. Below is a checklist of all the requirements for membership and registration. All the items must be completed and approved in order to be fully registered. If you have any questions about starting an RSO please contact the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement at 575.5255.

RSO Requirements

RSO must:

  • Have a least six (6) members (this can include officers)
  • Have a President
  • Have a Treasurer
  • Have a full time faculty/ staff advisor from the University of Arkansas. Part-time faculty and staff qualify as advisors if they are not simultaneously pursing a graduate degree or if advising is a requirement of the posisiton they hold.
  • Be composed of U of A students

RSO Officers must:

  • Be a full time enrolled student (12 credits for undergraduates and law students, 6 credits for graduate students).
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.25
  • Absence of academic or disciplinary probation

All Members must:

  • Be enrolled in at least one class

Registration Steps

Step 1: Paperwork (all paperwork is availbe in AU A665 or at the bottom of this page).

  1. Complete and turn in the Consent/ Registration Form to the CLCE Office (ARKU A 665).
  2. Turn in a signed copy of the RSO Non-Discrimination and Compliance statement to OCLCE (ARKU A665).
  3. Submit a copy of your current constitution electronically to rso@uark.edu. Here is a sample consitution for your reference.

Step 2: Online Registration

  1. Click HERE to register your organization online. Please note that your username is your complete email address (with@uark.edu). A more complete guide on how to register online is available in the CLCE Office (ARKU A665) or blelow under Registration Forms and Guides.
  2. The online information MUST match the paperwork that is turned in. Be sure to delete old members from your online registration.
